Explore FIRST LOVE

From print to a living manual

Explore FIRST LOVE began with a printed manual and a manufacturing deadline, while the instrument’s interface was still developing. A QR code linked the booklet to an online guide, letting us commit to print and keep the detailed guidance up to date.

Learning through the instrument

I designed the guide around FIRST LOVE itself. Readers select a control, screen or connection to open an explanation while keeping the instrument in view.

Four sections—Making Sound, Shaping the Sound, Playground and Connections—provide routes into the instrument, from choosing a sound source to connecting other equipment.

Show the relationship

Selecting Wave Shaping highlights the operators and shaping controls; switching to Operator Connections highlights their links. The feature list, annotated instrument and explanation panel update together, connecting each written step and video to the relevant controls.

A guide that can keep moving

I built the working front end to refine navigation, information density and behaviour across screen sizes. A custom editing tool separates the explanations from the layout, so the team can revise guidance and add videos as the instrument develops.
